LI:To find the real names of places in New Zealand
This week for Maori we first looked at some Christmas song but in Maori. It was a competition Boys vs Girls, for this competition we had to guess the song the person was singing. It was a tie with 2-2.
Then we had to go on a google do where we had to find the English name for places in New Zealand.
I am a Year 6 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in LS1 and my teachers are Mr Wong and Mr Ogilvie

LI:To say fruits in Maori.
This week for Maori we first looked at a video about how the north and south of New Zealand was made. We had to make a google drawing to show people fruits in Maori like Panana and Kerepi. We had to work with a partner but make different drawing. We had to do learn about four fruits. Matthew and I had to do Banana, grapes, cherry, and mandarin

Paikea
LI:To learn about paikea.
LI:To learn how humans where made.
This week we learned how the first human was made. we read a story about a god that closed his eyes and he made a structure out of the earths clay. At first it was a normal structure until the god put his head on the structure head and sighed. When he sighed the structure came to life that is how the first human was made. We also had to make a DLO about Paikea.

Matariki celebration
LI:To celebrate matarikiThis week on Wednesday Panmure Bridge celebrated Matariki. We had performances by the cuppa haka group senior and junior, Drum group, Ucalali group, and the pecifica group. I enjoyed the the drumming group the best. After all the performances everyone had to form a lines to get sausages, but if they were vegetarians they had to go the kitchen they got vegetarians sausages. Because I didn't like sausages I didn't have any. Mrs fiya Odia donated the sausages.

Matariki with LS2
LI:To collaborate with LS2
This week LS1 went up to LS2 to work with two people from LS2. I worked with Oscar, Jericho, and Mataio. We watched a video about matariki then one of us got a three minute timer. After that we wrote as many thing we new about Matariki. We had to use that to make a poster about Matariki. Jericho drew most of the pictures. Me and Oscar wrote most of the information. Mataio had to do a job for Mr Mat an Mrs Lily.

This week for Maori we had to make stuff with string. The easiest was the parachute. The other ones were complication. Mrs said told us at the beginning that this is a test of patients. We learned it by watching videos, My friend Fanini helped me learn how to do the parachute.

LI:To learn how to make a fish.
This week for Maori we learned about wellington and who's idea it was to name it wellington. We read a book about Naki and Whaitaitai. Naki made a harbour and went into the sea. But Waitaitai didn't want to go. After a couple days he missed his friend he tried to go by Naki but he got stuck. We also made fishes with two pieces of paper.

LI:to learn about Matariki.
Matariki is a Maori new year. PBS will celebrate Matariki by singing songs and eating food. We will do this in week ten. Matariki starts on the fifteenth of June. We did a word search, searching for twelve Maori words. We are going to have a sausage sizzle during the celebration. We are all going to perform a song about the seven stars of Matariki. The song goes like this: Waiti, Waita, Waipurangi, Tupuanuku, Tupurangi, Ururangi e , Koinei nga tamariki o Matariki, Nga whetu e piatata i te rangi (x2).

We know if it is Matariki because seven bright star appear in the sky, and their names are: Matariki, Waita, Waiti, Uru arangi, Tupu arangi, Tupua nuku, and Waipuna a Rangi. In English, it is called the Pleiades. In Japan It is called Subaru.
We watched videos. I watched This one. We celebrate by having a feast and singing song. Also some people make kites.

emotion
LI:To learn Maori emotion.
This week for Maori we learned how to write four different types of emotions in Maori. We also had to draw it. The first one I did was "I am cold" which in Maori is "Kei Te makariri". Then I drew the emotion angry which in Maori is "Kei Te Riri". After that I drew I a person that was hot, which in Maori is "Kei Te Wera". And finally I drew a person that was happy, which in Maori is "Kei Te Pai".
